The Birthday Bash

Avery really enjoyed her first birthday party. It was a great day filled with good food, family and friends, and sunshine! Mason and Chloe came by to celebrate with Avery.
As did many of her other friends. We tried to get them all together for a group picture but it didn't go quite as planned.
We also discovered that Avery really isn't a "sweet's" person. She touched the frosting of her cake and decided it wasn't for her. I really wanted to see her dive into it.

All the other kids helped her eat her cupcakes and cookies.
She spent lots of time during the party with her grandmothers.
She really did have a great day.

Thanks for helping us celebrate!

I'm One!

Avery had her first 1st birthday party at school. The teachers sang happy birthday and presented her with a blueberry muffin.
They tried to get her to wear the birthday girl hat, but she declined.

So her friend Ellie wore it instead.

She shared her muffin with her friends.
I was even able to sneak away from work and attend the birthday bash.

Birthday Girl

Aaron and Avery planned a very fun birthday weekend for me.We went to lunch at Volterra and Avery enjoyed sitting at the table watching all the action in the restaurant.
It was a nice day, so we had to make a stop at the park!
Later that evening, the Cohens came by to watch Avery and Aaron and I met Matt and Joanna for a delicious dinner at Tulio.
The next day we went to my parent's house for brunch.
and Avery helped me blow out the birthday candles!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Palm Desert

This year's trip to Palm Desert was very special as Avery met her greatgrandmother for the first time! We are a lucky family to have four generations together.

My grandmother gave Avery this little doll (we call her "Baby") and Avery would not put it down!

Aaron had high hopes that Avery would take to the water...but she wasn't so sure about it.

Avery spent lots of time with her Auntie

and we met up with our friends Josh and Anat for a leisurly brunch at the Westin Resort.

After brunch we took a walk around the property. We went on an early morning hiking up Mt. Eisenhower with my aunt

and we spent lots of time eating with my grandmother.

At one feeding in our hotel room, Avery learned that she could spit her food out everywhere. It was hard not to laugh as she was laughing hysterically!Avery turned 9 months old! Three months before I'm one!

The Playground

Avery loves to swing! She just laughes and laughes and wants to go faster.
She had equally as much fun on the slide...but prefers the one at the University Village better.

The Past Two Months

Here are some of our favorite pictures of Avery from the past two months. Avery started eating Cheerios around the middle of January and has progressed to other finger foods. Despite this picture, she really does like Cheerios. This was the result of our first attempt to take Avery to the park and play...she fell asleep before we got there and we had to turn around and go back home.
We had a birthday party for my mom, and Avery laughed so hard when my mom blew out the candles.
