Happy 1st Anniversary - August 25, 2008

We had hoped that the pictures you'd see here were of the great first anniversary party that my parents threw for us...except that it didn't happen. Our flight to Seattle from Copenhagen on Saturday the 23rd was cancelled, so we ended up over 24 hours delayed, didn't get in to Seattle until Sunday night, and my parents had to cancel our party. We were very disappointed, as my grandmother, my Aunt Nancy, and Ashley and Neil were all in town to celebrate with us. Instead, we wanted to showcase some of the best pictures from our wedding day one year ago. Enjoy!

Copenhagen, Denmark August 20th-24th

The last stop on our European adventure was Copenhagen, Denmark. We stayed at the Hotel Skt. Petri in the Latin Quarter and had fun touring the city. Aaron took me to the famous street Nyhavn--seen below.

We then went on a walking tour all around the city. Aaron was excited to show me the famous Opera House built by the founder of Maersk, Maersk McKinney Moller.

A must see--Maersk headquarters!

Aaron saw some Japanese tourists make this face in a photo--he thought it was funny...
And he made me do it too...
After a 5 mile walk through town, we finally reached our destination...Den Lille Havfrue (The Little Mermaid). Glad she was surrounded by hoards of tourists, as we probably would have walked right by. She is much smaller than we expected (no, the actual size is not distored by the picture...she is really that small!). I made Aaron hop over the guardrail and take a photo to commemorate our LONG journey.

Aaron tried to convince me this was a famous windmill...it was just a windmill sitting atop old Army barracks.

We visited the royal palace...

...and watched the palace guards march through town at noon each day.

Our urban chic room at the Skt. Petri (or the Petri Dish, as we prefer to call it).
